I am getting so excited about moving to Mt Vernon, and I feel so thankful to the Lord for providing such a great job in a great location! Wow... God is truly truly great. I miss it so much... The colder weather reminds me of it, and I can't wait to have a white Christmas next year, and cuddle up with Scott next to a fireplace in our little rental house! Oh, I cannot wait to have a yard to work in in the Spring, and rooms to decorate for guests! Only 5 1/2 months till we move!

Faith

In reading "Loving God with all Your Mind," I came upon two wonderful quotes to ponder....

"The testimony of faith is that, no matter how things look in this fallen world, all God's acts are wrought in perfect wisdom." - A.W. Tozer

"Trustfulness is based on confidence in God whose ways I do not understand; if I did, there would be no need for trust." - Oswald Chambers

I especially love that second quote. Our relationship with God is based on faith. His ways are higher than ours. We cannot comprehend an infinite God, so we must trust. And it is a beautiful thing that brings peace to my heart.... knowing that I am small, and God is big.

The secret of stillness

"I would say the ideal balance between inward and outward pursuits should be 50-50.
When I was younger, my life was tilted more outward and less inward. As I grow and mature, I find I'm leaning more toward the inward. I want my life to be geared more toward heaven. I want to lift my life, my hands, my head, and my body toward God, to spend more time alone with Him -- talking, listening, and just being. I want to experience the fragrance of His love and let that love permeate my life, to let the calmness of His spirit replenish the empty well of my heart, which becomes delpeted in the busyness and rush of the everyday demands and pressures.
Do whatever is necessary to nurture quiet moments in your life. Don't let the enemy wear you down so thin that you lose your balance and perspective. Regular time for stillness is as important and necessary as sleep, exercise, and nutritious food"
- Simple Secrets to a Beautiful Home by Emilie Barnes

I believe so fully in this statement. It is so counter-American-culture to take time just to be still and rest and think. But it is what the Lord wants us to do. He knows we need it, because He says in His word that we are to rest on the Sabbath, and also to "Be Still and Know that I am God." It's really hard in our busy lives to find this time to be still... sometimes we don't even have enough time to get a good night's sleep. But really, when I think about it, I do have the time. I just need to prioritize my time correctly.

I love creating a calm atmosphere in my home by lighting candles, putting on some soft music, getting into comfy clothes.... I love to listen to music with nature sounds in the background, because I feel like I'm out in the woods or countryside somewhere. It helps me relax and focus on the Lord, and He gives me true peace in my heart. :)

Thinking about Skagit Valley, Wa

Only 7 more months 'til we pack up all our earthly possessions, put them in a U-haul, and move up to Washington... (the gorgeous picture on my page in where we will be living).... my feelings about this are mixed. It is almost entirely excitement and anticipation that I feel, but there is a bit of sadness about being so far from family and good friends (that feel like family). The most comforting thing about it is that we prayed and prayed... and the Lord (who knows the future, and has wonderful plans for us) confirmed that it is in His will for us to go there. So, in 7 months, we will make the Northerly Trek with joy and hope! I really hope that Scott and I get to someday build a retreat/B&B that we can use for ministry. We'll see what God has planned!

a place for my thoughts and ideas

Here begins the blogging of Mrs. A. Wohlgemuth. This is a place where she will write down her thoughts... creative ideas.... favorite quotes... etc. This page will be a glimpse into her life. Please enjoy! Life is a precious gift from our heavenly Father. :)
